At Nature’s Essence Uganda, Umami Mushroom-Based Foods represents our dedication to transforming lives through high-quality, nutritious mushroom products. Incorporated in 2022 and located in Nansana Municipality, just 6km northwest of Kampala, Umami is more than a brand—it’s a movement empowering over 250 smallholder women mushroom growers.
By leveraging solar energy to reduce post-harvest losses, we create a diverse range of value-added products with extended shelf lives, including mushroom porridge, soups, teas, wine, tonics, and even vegan mushroom-based skincare products. These innovations improve household nutrition, generate income, and provide job security for young people across Uganda.
Our diverse product line includes Mushroom-Amaranth porridge, soup powder, seasoning powder, mushroom coffee, fresh and dried mushrooms, mushroom wine and tonic, as well as delightful mushroom samosas and cookies.

They include training in mushroom growing, farm setup and structure construction, spawn production and supply, mushroom garden production and distribution, as well as collective packaging and marketing.
Our range of mushroom-based skincare products combines natural goodness with innovation, offering herbal jelly and soap, skin glow oil, nourishing hair food, anti-dandruff hair oil, and anti-aging solutions like body cream, lotion, and soap. We also provide hair care essentials, including shampoo and conditioner, crafted to promote healthy, radiant skin and hair.
